Despite former Liberal Leader John Pesutto being found by the Federal Court to have defamed Moira Deeming as a Nazi sympathiser, the mud he threw stuck.

Just two weeks after the attack on Dr Helen Haines, political vandals wrote “no sympathy for Nazi sympathiser” on one of the Family First MPs election signs in Melbourne’s west.

Family First National Director Lyle Shelton said this incident highlights the toxic culture against women created in Victoria by Labor and Liberal after first Dan Andrews and then John Pesutto falsely accused Mrs Deeming of being a Nazi Associate.

“It’s disappointing that despite winning in court and Mr Pesutto even being required to pay massive damages and Ms Deeming’s legal costs, she is still having to defend herself in public for simply speaking up for the sex-based rights of girls and women.

“Ms Deeming has paid a high price for speaking at the 2023 ‘Women Will Speak’ rally at Parliament House which was gate crashed by Nazis.

“Clearly nothing has been learned from the tragic attack on Dr Helen Haines when political activists will just two weeks later write false and despicable slurs on an MPs campaign billboard.

“It’s even more ironic because Mrs Deeming is a first nations woman of colour and her four children have Jewish blood,” Mr Shelton said.
