Munro Footwear Partners with Jeans for Genes to Turn School Shoes into Life-Saving Support

Munro Footwear Group is partnering with Children’s Medical Research Institute through the Jeans for Genes campaign, donating $5 from every Colorado Resilience Plus school shoe sold at Williams, Mathers, and The Trybe stores from January 2 until January 31.
For decades, Australians have united behind the iconic Jeans for Genes campaign, helping Children’s Medical Research Institute work towards one powerful goal: making the incurable, curable. Now, Munro Footwear Group is giving families another meaningful way to support this vital cause.
The Australian retailer is donating $5 from every pair of selected children’s school shoes sold to Children’s Medical Research Institute, helping fund critical medical research into birth defects and genetic diseases that affect 1 in 20 Australian children.
Available at Williams, Mathers and The Trybe, the Colorado Resilience Plus school shoe range has been thoughtfully designed with growing feet - and busy families - in mind. The range features nine versatile styles, available in multiple width fittings, making it easier than ever for parents to find the right fit, without compromise.

Every school shoe sold will help kids like Sophia, who lives with cystic fibrosis. Each day, Sophia completes physiotherapy, takes dozens of tablets with her meals, and must carefully avoid simple childhood illnesses like a cold or flu that could have serious consequences.
Sophia’s Mum, Sarah, said learning that her life expectancy could be impacted was extremely confronting.
“With an illness like bronchitis, for a normal child, that might just be a dose of antibiotics, a couple of days home from school. For Sophia, that could potentially mean a hospital admission with intensive antibiotics through the IV drip and a fear of how it could damage her lungs that is irreversible. That’s what could impact her life expectancy.”
Dr Kate Giles, Senior Scientist at Children’s Medical Research Institute, thanked Munro Footwear Group and Australian families for their support: “We are never guaranteed government funding and when the money runs out, so does the research. We are extremely grateful to Munro for believing in what we do, and we thank every person who has contributed to keeping our labs open and helping us to make the incurable, curable.”
