New Empower Her Campaign to help women into the workforce

A new campaign from national charity Dress for Success is striving to help thousands of women into the workforce amidst rising cost of living pressure.

The Empower Her campaign begins today and aims to raise 100-thousand dollars nationally to go towards helping five-thousand women each year secure and retain work.

Dress for Success operates a free clothing and styling service, offers one-on-one career support, and provides a 24/7 online career portal with on-demand resources and live weekly workshops with industry experts.

Dress for Success South East Melbourne Vice President Samantha Gowan emphasises that funding is critical right now to meet the rising demand brought on by economic pressures.

“With the cost-of-living crisis, we’re seeing more and more women reaching out—whether they’re looking to re-enter the workforce, increase their hours, or try a new career path.

This crisis is taking a toll on mental health and has led to increased rates of family violence, making our mission to support women even more urgent. Our services are always free to any woman who needs them.

“Throughout November, Empower Her is aiming to make a meaningful impact—one woman, one opportunity, one empowered future at a time.

“There are lots of ways for businesses and individuals to join in, like Bake to Empower, Move to Empower, Wear Red to Empower and DIY fundraisers

“For example, a $25 donation helps a woman with personalised résumé support from a recruitment expert. A $50 donation goes toward a mock interview session, building confidence for her next opportunity.

“A $150 donation funds access to several professional development workshops led by field experts, and $300 supports a one-on-one styling session with a volunteer stylist, along with the right clothing and accessories to help her make a great impression.

"Each contribution has a significant impact, and we encourage corporates, small businesses, individuals, and schools to participate in this valuable initiative."

As part of the campaign Dress for Success will hold a national Empower Day on November 22nd to celebrate empowering women, with donations on the day to be matched by generous supporters.
