United Rentals, the world’s largest equipment rental company, has opened a new Brisbane branch to meet growing customer demand driven by population growth and major infrastructure and construction projects.

The purpose-built branch at Brisbane Airport brings United Rentals’ container engineering, mobile storage, and worksite solutions together on one site to provide greater capability and a comprehensive range of hire products.

“It was key for the site to be a hub for United Rentals’ product innovation and engineering expertise along with mobile storage and worksite solutions to meet customers' rental requirements,” said Brendon Greatrex, United Rentals Mobile Storage District Manager Queensland.

“The facility meets our current demand and is designed to position us to meet anticipated growth in the region as infrastructure and construction projects progress.”

Alongside United Rentals’ existing Trench Safety branch in Yalata and General Equipment Hire branch in Richlands, the new facility increases the company’s capability in Brisbane and across Queensland.

Mr Greatrex said United Rentals’ previous hire site needed upgrading, so it made sense to consolidate engineering with mobile storage and worksite solutions to become a single-source provider for projects underway in the region.

Focus on renewable energy

In Queensland, United Rentals supports a wide range of industries – from building and construction, civil infrastructure, and intermodal transport to retail, events, and household storage solutions.

The Brisbane branch will have a key focus on delivering building, construction and infrastructure customers with sustainable and eco-friendly solutions.

United Rentals is working to reduce its carbon footprint and offers products that may help customers pursue their own sustainability objectives, including:

  • The solar-powered Site Hub
  • Solar and Battery Energy Storage Systems
  • Using Powder Coated intermodal containers rather than traditional Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) paint systems

Mr Greatrex said a product like the Site Hub is a self-sufficient worksite solution that is cost-effective and may assist customers in progressing toward their sustainability targets.

“It’s a product that supports customers in working toward sustainability targets and goals, achieving potential savings, and gaining competitive advantage.”

Strategic location, streamlined processes

Built to a 5-Star Green Star building standard, the branch features automated systems including lighting, gates, alarms, and air conditioning.

Additionally, all fleet operations are remotely operated using a system of cameras and boom gates to streamline branch procedures and enable transport providers to move through the facility quickly and efficiently.

“It’s an impressive facility. I’ve never worked in a branch like it in all my years in the hire industry,” said Mr Greatrex.

“The branch is well positioned to service growth and development in Brisbane and the wider region.”

Being located at Brisbane Airport ensures easy access to major routes to the North, South, and   West, with Moreton Bay and surrounds close by to the East.

Global reach, local expansion and expertise

The new Brisbane branch follows recent expansions of branches in Adelaide and Perth. The company is also enhancing customer services in Australia with a United Rentals website that launched in 2026 and its Total Control® fleet and worksite management platform, available as a mobile app.

Unitedrentals.com utilises the global scale and technology of United Rentals to support the local market and provide streamlined access to its product range, which has expanded following the company's recent acquisitions.

Additionally, the Total Control app enables customers to control and manage their hire equipment while on the move. Mr Greatrex said the company was committed to providing quality service, quality equipment, and innovative solutions for customers across Australia.

“The Brisbane branch will provide an expanded range of rental products in the region,” he said.

United Rentals combines global reach with local knowledge, expertise and an extensive range of products to meet customers’ specific needs.

“We build true partnerships between our local teams and their customers. They know their local market best and understand what customers want, which means they tailor solutions to get the job done effectively, on time and on budget,” said Mr Greatrex.
