NSW offers $39 million to boost EV fast charging network

Applications are now open for Round 4 of the NSW Government’s EV fast charging grants program, accelerating the state’s transition to cleaner transport and helping electric vehicle drivers travel further than ever before.
The $39 million initiative invites private operators to co-fund fast charging stations around the state, with an emphasis on installing units in prescribed regional and remote areas to close the gaps existing in the rapidly expanding network.
To tackle these blackspots, the NSW Government is offering to fund up to 90 per cent of installation costs, plus several years’ operating expenses, to incentivise more chargers in western NSW.
Operators will have the opportunity to submit grant applications to install fast charging stations in 104 zones across NSW including 73 in remote and regional areas and 31 metropolitan NSW.
Combined, this round of funding could deliver more than 100 fast charging stations, each with three or more charging bays.
Rounds 1-3 of the program approved $76 million in grants for 184 fast charging stations across the state, valued at $195 million when private investment is added to the NSW Government’s contribution.
