Oly Homes completes HIA modular housing three-peat with Sunshine Coast & Wide Bay win
Oly Homes
Yandina based Oly Homes has won the 2026 HIA Sunshine Coast & Wide Bay Modular & Prefabricated Housing Award for a custom coastal home it built at Agnes Water.
The win makes it three consecutive years of HIA recognition for Oly Homes in the modular and prefabricated housing category, across three different awards programs. The company won the Modular & Prefabricated Housing category at the 2024 HIA Queensland Housing Awards, then took out both Modular & Prefabricated Housing and the Steel Frame Project category at the 2025 HIA Cairns awards.
Oly Homes General Manager Steve Nousala said the HIA award reflected the hard work and dedication of the whole Oly Homes team along with the trust of the client.
"To be recognised by HIA three years in a row, across three different awards programs, is a credit to our team and to the clients who trust us with their homes. Each year we work hard to become the national leader in the modular home industry and to be consistently recognised by our peers is an incredible feather in our cap.
“The Agnes Water home site presented a number of challenges as it was steep and demanding, and it's exactly where modular construction shows what it can do. Building the home off-site under tight quality control, on a galvanised steel substructure, enables us to respond to the land with precision while ensuring our footprint is light.
"We hope this home continues to help change perceptions on how people think about prefabricated housing. By consistently winning these awards it shows that modular can deliver a bespoke, architecturally refined home that is built to last in any type of environment," he said.
The winning home sits on a steeply sloping coastal site at Agnes Water with a brief from the client who wanted a contemporary, low-maintenance home that maximised views, natural light and liveability, while working with the significant constraints of the land.
Steve said the Oly Homes team worked on a number of elements to ensure the home would meet the design brief including engineered steel framing, durable external cladding and carefully detailed finishes which suit the coastal conditions of Agnes Waters.
“We adopted passive design principles, including orientation, ventilation, insulation which all helped to improve thermal performance while including the provisions for future rainwater harvesting.
“The building follows the natural fall of the land, with a refined roofline and a clean material palette, while inside we have created an open-plan living area which is balanced with clearly defined private zones. Generous glazing and a full-length veranda extend the living spaces outdoors to capture coastal breezes and strengthen the connection between inside and out,” Steve added.
As a regional winner, Oly Homes now progresses to the HIA Queensland Housing Awards on Friday 13 November.
