On foot for freedom: Property managers trek 80km to fight child trafficking

In a bold act of endurance and advocacy, a group of property managers have walked 80 kilometres in a single day, from Perth to Mandurah, to raise funds and awareness for children trapped in human trafficking and sexual exploitation.
The team from LJ Hooker Property Experience South participated in Tread on Trafficking, a national campaign encouraging Australians to turn physical challenges into life-saving impact. Proceeds from the walk support Destiny Rescue, a non-profit organisation committed to rescuing children across the world from trafficking and sexual exploitation.
Beginning at 4:00 AM, the group walked for more than 17 hours, traversing coastal tracks and bushland trails to reach the finish line. Property Investment Department Manager Lena Quirk said their goal was simple: to raise funds to rescue children and provide the aftercare they need to stay free.
“This is such an important cause for our team,” Lena said. “We wanted to push ourselves physically to raise awareness and funds for an issue that’s too often hidden.”
Destiny Rescue Chief Operations Officer Geoff Harrison commended the team’s commitment, noting that community-led efforts like this play a vital role in the broader fight against child trafficking.
“Grassroots campaigns like this create real impact, not just in raising funds that will go directly towards our rescue operations and aftercare programs, but in starting conversations,” Geoff said. “We’re incredibly grateful to the LJ Hooker team for turning their steps into life-changing action.”
To date, LJ Hooker Property Experience South has raised more than $6,900, with donations still pouring in. All proceeds will go directly to Destiny Rescue’s on-the-ground operations and survivor aftercare programs.
