Pantera Minerals (ASX: PFE) (OTCQB: PTMLF) adds 470km² WA gold project through low-cost Corona acquisition
Jane Morgan Management
- Pantera Minerals (ASX: PFE) has entered binding agreements to acquire 100% of the 470km² Corona Gold Project in Western Australia, located approximately 200km east of Kalgoorlie, for $200,000 in cash and shares plus a 2% gross revenue royalty.
- The project contains an 8km-long gold-in-bedrock anomaly and multiple untested geochemical targets, with historical drilling returning results including 6m at 1.50g/t gold from 66m, though these results have not been independently verified by Pantera.
- Corona sits within a structural corridor near the Tropicana gold mine and along strike from BPM Minerals' Forelands Project, where recent RC drilling intersected gold at every target tested, including 1m at 85.61g/t.
- Approximately 30% of the project has never been geochemically sampled, and only one historical RC hole has been drilled in the immediate Corona prospect area, representing significant untested exploration upside.
- Following completion, expected in October 2026, Pantera plans to validate historical data, conduct closer-spaced ultra-fine fraction soil sampling over priority anomalies, and progress towards aircore and RC drilling, whilst continuing its existing US critical minerals portfolio activities.
29 September 2026 - Perth, WA | Pantera Minerals (ASX: PFE) has entered binding agreements to acquire 100% of the 470km² Corona Gold Project in Western Australia, giving the company a low-cost entry into an underexplored gold position containing an 8km-long gold-in-bedrock anomaly and multiple untested geochemical targets.
The acquisition adds a Western Australian gold asset to Pantera’s existing US critical minerals portfolio, with the company paying $200,000 in cash and shares for the project, alongside a 2% aggregate gross revenue royalty.
Corona comprises two granted exploration licences about 200km east of Kalgoorlie in the Albany Fraser Orogen. The project sits within the broader structural corridor hosting the Tropicana gold mine to the northeast and immediately along strike from BPM Minerals’ Forelands Project, where the Beachcomber discovery is located 10–25km from Corona’s boundary.
The strategic appeal for Pantera is the amount of historical exploration work already available relative to the acquisition cost. Previous explorers identified an approximately 8km-long gold anomaly through aircore drilling along a major interpreted structure, but only one historical RC hole was drilled in the immediate Corona prospect area.
Historical drilling returned results including 6m at 1.50g/t gold from 66m, including 2m at 2.55g/t, as well as 11m at 0.29g/t from 93m and 2m at 0.83g/t from 104m to the end of hole. The results are historical and have not been independently verified by Pantera, with the company considering them suitable for exploration targeting rather than resource estimation.
The western portion of Corona provides a second target area. Historical first-pass auger sampling identified several coherent gold anomalies above 50 parts per billion, with values reaching 128ppb, but those anomalies were not subsequently infilled or drill tested. About 30% of the broader project has never been geochemically sampled.
The regional setting has attracted additional attention following exploration at BPM Minerals’ neighbouring Forelands Project. Pantera said BPM's June 2026 first-pass RC drilling of ultra-fine fraction soil anomalies intersected gold at every target tested, including 1m at 85.61g/t gold and 5m at 3.94g/t. Pantera has not independently verified BPM’s results and cautioned that results from neighbouring projects are not necessarily indicative of mineralisation at Corona.
Pantera Executive Chairman and CEO Barnaby Egerton-Warburton said:
“While our primary focus is the U.S. when a project like Corona becomes available that is cheap, with real targets already defined and a clear path to drilling – we will take it. Eighty percent of the consideration is in Pantera shares, the royalty carries a fixed-price buyback, and our first-year spend goes into soils and drilling rather than the purchase price. We will keep doing deals like this whenever the entry cost is low and the upside is obvious."
“BPM has shown, just 25 kilometers along strike, that tight-spaced ultra-fine fraction soils over historical auger anomalies followed by RC drilling works in this part of the Albany Fraser. Their Beachcomber deposit sits under a single 105ppb soil point. Corona carries multiple auger points above that level on wider-spaced lines, together with an eight-kilometer bedrock anomaly that has seen one RC hole in its history. We intend to apply the same method, quickly.”
The transaction requires $40,000 in cash, with the remaining $160,000 consideration to be paid in Pantera shares. Those shares will be subject to 12 months of voluntary escrow. Completion remains subject to customary conditions, including due diligence and any required ministerial consent, and is expected in October 2026.
Following completion, Pantera plans to begin heritage and access discussions, compile and validate historical exploration data and reinterpret existing high-resolution magnetic data. It then intends to undertake closer-spaced ultra-fine fraction soil sampling over priority anomalies and sections of the 8km Corona trend before ranking targets and lodging programs of work for aircore and RC drilling.
Progression to drilling will remain subject to exploration results, heritage and access arrangements and the required approvals. Pantera said Corona will sit alongside its US critical minerals portfolio, including the Gillham antimony-silver project in Arkansas, where maiden drilling is underway.
