Sydney, Australia, 11 September, 2024 – September is here, and with it, the countdown to summer that Aussies have been looking forward to all year. While we’re getting ready for the warmer weather and good vibes that summer brings, leading nutrition and food tracking app, MyFitnessPal, has shared data that revealed it’s also the time where Aussies begin to think about their health and fitness goals.

While it is a well known fact Aussies love a cheeky trip to the pub with their mates as soon as the heat starts to show, in-app data from September last year found that a whopping 80% of new Australian users logged weight loss as the primary goal.

Nutritionist and author Luke Hines emphasises that achieving health and fitness goals doesn’t require sacrificing taste or indulging in bland, diet-culture meals, “Simple swaps can transform our favourite dishes into healthier options without compromising on flavour. Whether it’s using avocado oil instead of olive oil, or opting to bake instead of deep fry, there are countless ways to balance macros while still enjoying flavoursome meals.”

To help Aussies stay on track with their nutrition and fitness goals while enjoying the foods they love, MyFitnessPal is launching ‘MyFitnessPub’ – a pop-up event offering fresh, healthier takes on Australia’s classic pub dishes.

Popping up on Thursday 12th September at The Oaks in Neutral Bay, the experiential pop-up venue will offer a new menu created by Luke that will give diners healthier, protein packed alternatives to their top pub choices including fish and chips, chicken parmigiana, burgers, and sticky date pudding.

“Each dish on the menu has been crafted with protein-rich ingredients, which are essential for building healthy nutritional habits,” adds Hines. “Protein is a key macro, alongside carbohydrates and fats, that forms the foundation of good nutrition. It’s not only crucial for muscle and bone repair but also provides vital energy.”

The MyFitnessPub pop-up highlights the importance of understanding personal nutritional needs. MyFitnessPal’s app empowers users by offering insights into their ideal protein intake based on factors such as daily physical activity, body weight, height, and gender. By integrating these elements, and offering tailored recipes and plans, regular users can make informed decisions that support their health and nutrition goals while still enjoying their favourite meals.

For Sydneysiders looking to try the healthier alternatives for themselves, MyFitnessPal is offering a free dish to the first 100 guests who show their MyFitnessPal profile at the pop-up.

Walk-ins are welcome, but bookings are encouraged through ‘Alalas’ at The Oaks. Alternatively, Aussies can recreate the pub classics at home on MyFitnessPal by visiting: www.myfitnesspal.com or downloading the app for free via the Apple App Store or Google Play.

Ends.
