Sydney, 6 November 2026 – PayPal Australia announced that PayPal Pay in 4 is now available in-store for selected Australian retailers, including national home appliances and electronics retailer The Good Guys, through a partnership with Australian payments technology provider Quest Payment Systems.

This is the first time PayPal Pay in 4 has been enabled at physical point of sale in Australia via a payment terminal, marking PayPal’s entry into in-store payments in the local market. The solution delivers a secure and streamlined checkout experience, extending PayPal’s Pay in 4 capability from online to bricks-and-mortar retail.

Customers using PayPal Pay in 4 can spread the cost of eligible purchases into four interest-free payments, with no late fees, providing greater flexibility and choice at point of sale. This is enabled for supporting retailers with Quest payment terminals.

PayPal worked with Australian-owned Quest Payment Systems to develop and integrate the in-store capability for Quest terminals. Quest, known for delivering Australia’s only locally designed and manufactured range of payment terminal hardware, provides payment solutions to major Australian retailers including Coles Group, Australia Post, Aldi, Chemist Warehouse and BP.

Simon Banks, Managing Director, PayPal Australia, said, “Australian consumers value flexibility at checkout. PayPal Pay in 4 has become a popular choice for millions online, and we’re pleased to now extend that same trusted, interest-free, no-late fee BNPL service to in-store purchases through our partnership with Quest Payment Systems.”

Luke Fuller, Chief Product Officer, Quest Payment Systems, said, “This collaboration with PayPal demonstrates how innovation in payments technology can expand consumer choice at the checkout. By enabling access to PayPal Pay Later through Quest terminals, we’re helping retailers offer flexible, digital-first in-store credit options within the physical store environment.”

Strong Consumer Demand for Flexible Payment Options

Australians continue to embrace buy now, pay later services as part of their everyday shopping habits, particularly when making larger purchases. Consumer research shows that more than a quarter of Australians (26%) use BNPL, with users citing the following reasons:

  • 60% use it to spread out the cost of larger purchases
  • 56% say it helps them manage their budget and cash flow
  • 45% say they use it to manage cost-of-living pressures
  • 42% say it provides more flexibility than other forms of credit1

How the PayPal Pay in 4 Quest solution works in three easy steps:

  1. A customer selects PayPal at checkout on a Quest payment terminal, which displays a PayPal QR code
  2. The customer scans the QR code with their phone and logs in to PayPal. If eligible, they select PayPal Pay in 4, apply, and, if approved, complete the transaction.
  3. The terminal receives confirmation, and the in-store purchase is finalised.

This milestone reflects PayPal’s continued commitment to expanding flexible payment choice for Australian consumers, while supporting local retailers with innovative solutions that meet evolving customer expectations. Additional in-store capabilities for PayPal Pay in 4 are planned to be rolled out through early 2027.
