Fertile paddocks, rugged mountain peaks, country pubs and warm rural hospitality, the Scenic Rim’s west is ready to welcome visitors for a delicious weekend of farm walks, feasts and flavour!
From 5 to 7 June, the towns of Boonah, Kalbar, Harrisville and Mount Alford take centre stage for the second weekend of Scenic Rim Eat Local Month, the gold award-winning paddock-to-plate celebration. And yes, bring an esky… you’re going to need it. Imagery and vision in this file
Friday 5 June offers two very good reasons to arrive early.
At Bunjurgen Estate Vineyard, Chocolate, Cheese and Wine in the Vineyard pairs five award-winning wines and Fortifieds with local cheeses and handcrafted chocolate, all served with sweeping vineyard views and stories from David the vigneron himself, the kind of character every wine region needs.
For something sweet and sparkling, Kooroomba Vineyard and Lavender Farm hosts Floral Cupcakes and Sparkling Wine, where guests create edible floral bouquets using local botanicals while sipping sparkling among the lavender fields and mountain views, plus it’s the most perfect place for selfies amongst the wines and lavender.
Saturday 6 June is packed with flavour, fun and a little fermentation.
Summer Land Camels hosts the Fermented Food Festival, a celebration of krauts, sourdough, kombucha, cheesemaking, brewing and all things cultured and fermented. Expect expert talks, live demonstrations, market stalls, music and camel cuddles throughout the day. Yep, it’s time to get pickled people!
While there, visitors can also join the Tour, Taste and Camel Encounter at Australia’s largest camel farm and dairy, meeting the camels, going behind the scenes and sampling award-winning camel milk cheese and gelato made right on farm.
For lunch, the Commercial Hotel Boonah plates up the Beef and Beer Masterclass, bringing together Boonah Brewing Co’s head brewer, local butcher Kane Lutter and premium Scenic Rim beef for an afternoon of craft brews, butchery tips and country hospitality.
Sunday 7 June begins fresh from the paddock at Valley Pride Produce with Veggie Picking with the Farmer, where fifth-generation Scholl family farmers welcome guests into the fields to dig carrots, beetroot and kale and more straight from the soil to take home.
For a long and lazy lunch, Fox Hill Grove hosts Cocktails, Cuisine and Country, a relaxed afternoon of artisan cocktails crafted from local spirits, handmade syrups and Bunburra honey, paired with shared plates by Scenic Rim Food Ambassador Jack Stuart served in a paddock overlooking the countryside.
REMINDER:
The month culminates in the region’s signature Winter Harvest Festival in Kalbar on Saturday 27 June — bringing together farmers, producers, chefs, makers and growers from across the Scenic Rim for one giant celebration of local food and country life.
Think tractor pull competitions, food stalls overflowing with local produce, cooking demonstrations, live music, A Celebration of Lost Culinary Arts presented by 612 ABC Radio Brisbane, farm gate shopping, country hospitality and the famous Harvest Hoedown kicking on into the evening.

In 2026, the famous Scenic Rim Eat Local Month celebrates 15 flavour-filled years, proving that what begins as a small seed of an idea can grow into a mighty harvest. Having started as a celebration of the region’s farmers and producers, it has flourished into Australia’s most authentic paddock-to-plate food and farming event, and a Gold Award winner for Excellence in Food Tourism at the 2025 Queensland Tourism Awards.
Across 153 events – the biggest program to date - including 51 new experiences, the growers, farmers, makers, chefs and flavour masters of the Scenic Rim are once again throwing open their gates, kitchens and paddocks across all of June. This year's program features 42 On Farm Adventures, 40 Lunches and Dinners (think: mountaintops, paddocks, long tables, intimate tastings), 48 Family Friendly events and 62 Workshops and Experiences.
