Is this Australia's Best Value Red? $28 Wine Takes Best Pinot Trophy

Meet this festive season’s standout red – a trophy-winning drop from Taylors Wines delivering award-winning elegance without the luxury price tag.

ADELAIDE HILLS, SOUTH AUSTRALIA – Taylor Made Pinot Noir 2024 has claimed the coveted Best Pinot Noir of Show Trophy and a 95-point Gold Medal at the prestigious Adelaide Hills Wine Show, widely regarded as one of Australia’s toughest battlegrounds for cool-climate reds.

Beating a strong line-up of nearly 100 entries from the region’s most renowned producers, this accolade cements Taylor Made Pinot Noir as the must-have red for summer and festive celebrations, delivering trophy-quality at an accessible price of $28 (RRP).

“Winning at Adelaide Hills is no small feat. It’s a region renowned for exceptional Pinot Noir, judged by experts who know the variety inside out. Pinot Noir is often seen as an indulgence, reserved for special occasions and high price tags. This trophy proves you can enjoy an outstanding Pinot Noir for under $30,” said Mitchell Taylor, third-generation winemaker, Taylors Wines.

Pinot Noir is the ultimate summer red with its cool-climate finesse, vibrant fruit, and lighter structure. Served slightly chilled, it is the perfect choice for warmer months, offering a refreshing alternative right alongside a favourite white or rosé.

Pinot Noir is now Australia’s fastest-growing red wine (+4.9%), with retail sales valued at $132M¹. It is particularly popular among younger wine drinkers, with the highest consumption seen in the 25–44 age group². The $20–$35 price bracket dominates the category, representing 32.8% of all sales, and Taylor Made Pinot Noir already ranks in the Top 10 nationally within this crucial segment.

“Pinot Noir is the red of the season – fresh, food-friendly, and perfect for summer occasions. With value mattering more than ever, we’re delighted to have Taylor Made Pinot Noir on shelves for just $28, proving top-quality wine doesn’t need to break the bank,” said Michael Bornholdt, Business Category Manager - Wine, Coles Liquor Group.

Crafted from premium Adelaide Hills fruit, the 2024 vintage is made using small-batch techniques and gently matured in seasoned Burgundy barriques. Minimal intervention ensures its purity of fruit and true cool-climate expression.

The Adelaide Hills Trophy follows the wine’s recent success at the Australian Pinot Noir Challenge 2025, where it also secured a Gold Medal. These awards reinforce its reputation for delivering exceptional quality at an approachable price.

Alongside the trophy win, Taylor Made has unveiled a refreshed brand look that reflects modern craft and accessible premium quality. The range holds strong appeal for a new generation of wine lovers, offering lighter, vibrant styles for contemporary tastes and occasions.

Taylor Made Pinot Noir 2024 ($28 RRP) is available now at Liquorland, at good wine retailers nationally, and online via the Taylors Wines cellar door at taylorswines.com.au.

The Taylor Made range also includes Shiraz, Malbec, a Bordeaux-style BDX blend, Rosé, Pinot Gris, and a new Buttery Chardonnay.
