Police must serve the public -- not promote gender ideology

Family First Victorian candidate Jane Foreman has today called for Victoria Police to be banned from participating in political activism, including the promotion of radical LGBTIQA+ ideology.

Ms Foreman said recent public messaging by Victoria Police in support of “Trans Day of Visibility” raised serious concerns about the politicisation of law enforcement.

“Victoria Police exists to uphold the law and protect the community — not to promote contested social ideologies,” Ms Foreman said.

“Taxpayer-funded police resources should never be used to advocate for gender fluid ideology, particularly when that ideology underpins experimental and increasingly discredited medical interventions on children.”

Ms Foreman said many Victorian parents were deeply concerned about the impact of gender theory being normalised through trusted institutions.

“Children are being exposed to confusing and harmful ideas about identity at a young age. Police should not be reinforcing this — they should be focused on community safety.”

She said Family First candidates at the November Victorian election would move to legislate clear boundaries preventing police from engaging in political or ideological campaigns.

“Our police must be above politics. Victorians need confidence that law enforcement is impartial, focused on crime prevention, and not acting as a vehicle for activist causes,” she said.

“Family First will always stand for the protection of children, the rights of parents, and the integrity of our public institutions.”
