PSS Distributors and Vacc-Safe Unveil Industry-First Vaccine Refrigerator with Built-in Battery Backup, Ensuring Uninterrupted Cold-Chain Compliance Even in Power Outages

PSS Distributors, a leading innovator in Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) technology, has collaborated with medical cold-storage manufacturer Vacc-Safe to launch Vacc-Safe PowerGuard – Australia's first vaccine refrigerator with a built-in UPS battery backup. This innovative new system ensures that vaccines are stored under optimal conditions at all times, even during power outages, reducing costly vaccine wastage and protecting the health of Australians.

In accordance with government regulations, all vaccines must be stored in a purpose-built vaccine refrigerator that is continually data-logged. The data-logging report must be downloaded and reviewed at least weekly. The new Vacc-Safe PowerGuard vaccine refrigerator not only meets these regulations but sets a new standard in vaccine-storage technology.

Key features of the Vacc-Safe PowerGuard refrigerator with built-in UPS backup battery include:

Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS): The integrated UPS battery backup ensures that the refrigerator maintains a constant temperature, even during power outages, protecting the integrity of vaccines.

Battery backup: Enjoy peace of mind with a backup battery that runs up to 11 hours, with all run times pre-calculated to suit the user’s individual storage needs.

High-precision temperature control: The refrigerator maintains a stable temperature range specifically designed for vaccine storage of 2°C to 8°C degrees, preventing temperature fluctuations that can compromise vaccine efficacy.

Cost-effective solution: Reduces the need for additional equipment purchases and maintenance.

No double handling: Avoid the hassle of lifting and managing a large fridge and a separate heavy UPS battery back-up with an integrated, all-in-one system.

Continuous data logging: The refrigerator is equipped with advanced data-logging capabilities, continuously monitoring and recording temperature data to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Weekly data reporting: Users can easily download and review data-logging reports weekly, ensuring consistent monitoring and adherence to government standards.

User-friendly interface: An intuitive digital display and control panel make it easy for healthcare providers to monitor and manage the storage conditions.

Terrence Daniel, General Manager at PSS Distributors, commented on the launch: “We are thrilled to collaborate with Vacc-Safe to bring this ground-breaking solution to the healthcare market.

“The integration of a backup battery into a vaccine-safe refrigerator not only provides peace of mind to healthcare providers and ensures that vaccines remain effective and safe for use, even in the event of a power failure, but also reduces the cost and installation hassle of having to buy and install a separate back-up battery, helping to ensure safe access to essential vaccines for all Australians. This innovation underscores our commitment to advancing healthcare technology and enhancing patient safety with cutting-edge solutions.”

PSS Distributors is dedicated to supporting healthcare providers in meeting and exceeding regulatory standards. The new vaccine refrigerator is a testament to PSS Distributor's ongoing commitment to innovation, quality and safety in medical storage solutions.
