Key Facts:
  • Historic Dog on the Tucker Box kiosk near Gundagai reopens for school holidays with modernised facilities
  • New offerings include fresh on-site gelato, Melbourne coffee, sandwiches, and locally-sourced Riverina products
  • Dedicated dog treats and souvenirs available for visitors and their pets
  • Site renovation is first stage of larger regeneration project to create destination hub
  • Located along Hume Highway, offering travellers a historic pitstop with modern amenities

Travellers heading down the Hume Highway have a fresh reason to stop this spring. Just in time for the school holidays, the famous Dog on the Tucker Box kiosk near Gundagai will re-open – with plenty of new treats for road trippers and their dogs!

The re-designed kiosk is about celebrating Aussie road trip traditions, with a modern twist.

Think:

  • creamy gelato in a rainbow of flavours made fresh on site (kids can watch the magic happen)
  • Melbourne’s best coffee brand served with freshly prepared sandwiches, locally made cakes, and classic treats
  • locally sourced Riverina goodies from Annie’s Pantry, to stock up your picnic basket
  • Dog on the Tucker Box souvenirs and dog treats, the perfect keepsake for visitors and their four-legged companions.

Robert Winnel, AM, from the Dog on the Tucker Box team (who are the new custodians of this iconic site) says the new-look kiosk is just the beginning: “The Dog on the Tucker Box is more than a pitstop – it’s a part of Aussie history. We’re giving it the love it deserves so travellers feel welcome, get a great coffee, and take home memories that will last long after the road trip.

“This is stage one of a bigger plan to regenerate the whole site, creating a destination hub where travellers can stretch their legs, grab a selfie with their pup by the famous monument, and enjoy a taste of Gundagai hospitality.

So why not stop by, relax and see what’s on offer?”
