QPM Energy Restarts Townsville Power Station Following Major Overhaul
Dispatch Agreement with Ratch Australia Commences as Gas Supply Ramp-Up Underway
QPM Energy Limited (ASX: QPM) is pleased to announce the successful commissioning and return to service of the Townsville Power Station (TPS), marking the completion of a major maintenance overhaul.
The Dispatch Agreement between QPM and Ratch Australia Corporation has now formally commenced, effective from 1 August 2025. Under this agreement, QPM holds the right to manage the dispatch of electricity generated by TPS into the National Electricity Market (NEM), a key step in the company’s integrated energy strategy.
In parallel with the reactivation of the power station, QPM has accelerated its well workover program at the Moranbah Gas Project (MGP), including the deployment of a coiled tubing unit. This initiative is aimed at boosting gas production to support enhanced dispatch flexibility and revenue generation.
The restart allows QPM’s Energy Markets team to optimise electricity sales by leveraging both live gas from the MGP and stored gas in the North Queensland Gas Pipeline.
This operational milestone strengthens QPM’s position as a vertically integrated energy company with direct exposure to Australia’s east coast electricity markets.
