Quandamooka Festival 2026, celebrating Arts and Culture on Country

 

Presented by the Quandamooka Yoolooburrabee Aboriginal Corporation (QYAC) in partnership with the Queensland Music Festival (QMF), the 2026 Qfest will feature an exciting program of Kunjiel (corroboree/traditional dance), live music, visual arts, weaving, bush tucker, markets, storytelling, workshops, panel discussions.

 

QUAMPI Director Avril Quaill said a deadly line-up of First Nations talent has seen Qfest grow ‘bigger and better’ every year and it’s now regarded as ‘cornerstone event’ on the 2026 Queensland cultural calendar.

 

“We’re all very excited to be presenting Qfest again this year on Minjerribah,” showcasing artistic excellence on Country,” Ms Quaill said.

 

“Qfest is a fabulous opportunity to all come together, celebrate Country and share our rich culture through performing and visual arts, with community and visitors alike.”

 

QYAC Chair Cameron Costello said Qfest highlights the important role of First Nations tourism as Queensland prepares for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games and the Cultural Olympiad.

 

“Qfest is more than a cultural celebration, it’s a platform that showcases Quandamooka culture here on Minjerribah and connects global and domestic audiences with the oldest living culture on Earth,” said Mr Costello, who sits on the Brisbane 2032 Legacy Committee.

 

“QYAC is proud that Qfest is growing in popularity and is positioning Minjerribah and south-east Queensland as a premier cultural tourism destination.

 

“The gathering is an incredible two-day festival of music and celebration, but it’s also a timely affirmation of our Native Title rights and our deep connections and responsibilities to care for Country.”

 

Qfest tickets are free, but will be limited. Last year’s festival was a sell-out.

 

Kicks-off 10am, Saturday 12 September and Sunday 13 September.
