Queensland Country Bank selected to deliver Australian Government Help to Buy Scheme

Queensland Country Bank has been selected to join the panel of lenders supporting the Australian Government’s Help to Buy Scheme, reinforcing its commitment to helping more Members achieve accessible and affordable home ownership.

From Tuesday 6 October 2026, prospective home buyers will be able to access the Scheme through Queensland Country Bank’s retail and broker channels.

The Help to Buy Scheme is designed to support eligible home buyers to enter the property market sooner by reducing upfront deposit requirements through a shared equity model. Under the initiative, the Government may contribute up to 40% of the purchase price for new homes (up to 30% for existing homes), allowing buyers to enter the market with a lower deposit and without paying Lenders Mortgage Insurance (LMI).

Queensland Country Bank Chief Executive Officer Aaron Newman said Help to Buy initiative reflects the Bank’s commitment to supporting Members in their home ownership journey.

“Housing affordability continues to be a real challenge. This initiative reduces the upfront deposit barrier, supporting eligible Members to enter the market sooner - while maintaining a strong focus on long-term affordability and financial wellbeing.”

Queensland Country Bank has strong history of delivering government-supported lending having funded nearly $200 million in new loans to Members accessing initiatives like the Australian Government 5% Deposit Scheme.

“Helping people own their homes is core to who we are as a member-owned bank,” Mr Newman said.

“We stand ready to support our Members, in every way we can. Being selected as a lender to help deliver Help to Buy, we will be able to help more Queenslanders realise their home ownership goals sooner”.

As a member-owned bank, Queensland Country Bank remains focused on delivering practical solutions that balance accessibility with responsible lending, helping more Queenslanders confidently enter - and stay in - the housing market.
