Queenslanders have the chance to turn 10 cents into $10,000 by returning their eligible beverage containers through Containers for Change.

For a chance to win, participants need to return at least 100 eligible containers in one go before June 30 and submit their receipt online to be in the running for a $10,000 cash prize.

Another $10,000 cash prize will be awarded to a participating charity, school or community group.

The more containers returned, the more chances to win, with one return and entry permitted every 24 hours.

Containers for Change members earn double entries, so participants can double their chance of winning by signing up to become a change maker.

Queenslanders have returned more than 10 billion beverage containers since Containers for Change began in November 2018.

That has put $1 billion in 10-cent refunds back into Queensland communities and diverted more than 600,000 tonnes of containers waste from landfill.

Natalie Roach, Chief Executive Officer of Container Exchange, the not-for-profit organisation that runs Containers for Change, said the competition was a chance to give back to Queensland’s avid recyclers.

“We hear incredible stories about the real difference Containers for Change makes across the state from boosting recycling rates to providing charities, schools and community groups with the means to raise funds in a convenient and ongoing way,” Ms Roach said.

“Every container returned through Containers for Change is recycled and puts more 10-cent refunds back into the Queensland community.

“This competition is an opportunity to thank Queensland’s avid recyclers for their support and encourage more people to return their empties to the nearest return point.”

Visit the Containers for Change website for the competition entry form and terms and conditions.
