Ray Merlano bids farewell to Data#3 after decades of exemplary service

In recognition of his outstanding career and enduring legacy, colleagues, partners, and friends gathered yesterday to celebrate his remarkable contributions.
Merlano’s journey with Data#3 began in the formative years of the Queensland business, where his competitive spirit, relationship-building skills, and passion for customer service shaped not only the trajectory of the organisation but the culture that underpins its success today. Rising through the ranks from Account Executive to General Manager, Merlano played a pivotal role in expanding the business, developing strategic regional partnerships, and fostering a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
During his tenure, Merlano was recognised for his tenacity in pursuing new business, his commitment to team development, and his strong advocacy for community and charity initiatives. His leadership ethos, rooted in resilience, teamwork, and the belief in something bigger than individual achievement, has inspired colleagues and partners alike.
Reflecting on his career, Merlano, shared, “Being a part of Data#3 feels like being part of a family. One where striving for excellence and supporting one another go hand in hand. The opportunities I’ve been afforded here have allowed me to not only grow professionally but contribute to the lives of my colleagues, my family and the community. As a new chapter begins, Data#3 is pleased to welcome Rowena Collins to the role of General Manager for Queensland and Pacific Islands. Rowena brings over 20 years of experience in the ICT industry, including more than 13 years with Data#3. She has held senior roles across services and major accounts, working with both commercial and government sectors. As a key contributor to Data#3’s Queensland Major Accounts Group, she has consistently delivered cross-line-of-business outcomes, built enduring customer and vendor relationships, and demonstrated a deep understanding of Data#3’s culture. Rowena’s experience, vision, and leadership will continue to drive success for our customers, partners, and teams across the region.
