Why not kick off winter by doing something that’s good for both the environment and your wallet? Locals can bring their bottles, cans, and cartons to the Return and Earn machine at IGA Deniliquin and get 10c back for every eligible drink container they return while helping reduce litter and landfill.
“With the Return and Earn machine conveniently located at the IGA Deniliquin and open seven days a week, there’s never been a better time to get involved. Recycling your containers is easy and rewarding for everyone.” said James Dorney, CEO of TOMRA Cleanaway, network operator for Return and Earn.
More than 13.5 billion drink containers have been returned for recycling through the network of over 660 return points across NSW since Return and Earn began, resulting in over $1.3 billion in container refunds back in people’s pockets.
“Recycling with Return and Earn is one of the simplest ways to make a meaningful impact on our environment. Every container saved from landfill contributes to a healthier planet and a more sustainable future for Deniliquin,” said Mr. Dorney.
The Return and Earn IGA Deniliquin machine is located in the carpark at IGA Deniliquin, 349 George Street, Deniliquin. The machine is open daily from 7.00 am to 10.00 pm.
The IGA Deniliquin machine is one of the larger Return and Earn machines to support the community’s enthusiastic use of the scheme. It has four chutes for lightweight containers (aluminium cans, plastic bottles and cartons) and two chutes for glass containers. Users of the machine can print a voucher for the refund amount, which can be redeemed at the nearby IGA to be used for shopping or redeemed for cash. Alternatively, they can opt for payment directly into their bank or PayPal account using the Return and Earn app.
Locals can also donate their refund to one of over 300 donation partners listed on the Return and Earn app. Deniliquin has a variety of fantastic local organisations to consider donating to including Can Assist Deniliquin who provide financial assistance to cancer sufferers, and their families in the area.
Alternatively, you can donate to Little Wings who provide free air and ground transport for seriously ill children from regional or remote areas across NSW to life saving medical treatment in the city. Just 20 containers provides 1 litre of fuel for their missions.
Return and Earn has become a key fundraising channel for many charities and community groups in NSW. Over $72 million has been raised from donations and fees from hosting return points since the scheme launched in 2017.
