Wollondilly residents will soon have a new location to recycle their eligible bottles, cans and cartons with the installation of a Return and Earn machine at Silverdale Shopping Centre.

The Silverdale Shopping Centre Return and Earn machine will be the 5th return point in the Wollondilly Shire Council area, making it easier than ever to recycle eligible containers and get your 10c refund.

The new machine is expected to open on Friday 24 April. It will replace the Ampol Luddenham Return and Earn machine, which is being removed.

“This new machine will be easily accessible in the rear outdoor parking area, making it easy for locals to include Return and Earn as part of their routine,” said James Dorney, CEO of TOMRA Cleanaway, network operator for Return and Earn.

“Wollondilly Shire Council residents are enthusiastic recyclers, having returned over 64 million eligible bottles, cans and cartons through local return points since the scheme began.

“Statewide, more than 15.6 billion drink containers have been returned for recycling through the network of over 660 return points across NSW since Return and Earn began, resulting in over $1.5 billion in container refunds back in people’s pockets.”

The new machine will feature the latest ‘takes-all’ technology, which means all eligible drink containers can be returned through any of the machine’s four chutes, without the need to pre-sort glass containers from plastic and aluminium.

Recyclers can print a voucher for the refund amount, which can be redeemed at Woolworths for a discount on their shopping or for cash. Recyclers can also opt for an e-voucher or payment directly into their bank or PayPal account using the Return and Earn app.

Locals can also donate their refund to one of over 500 donation partners listed on the Return and Earn app, including Guide Dogs NSW/ACT, who offer life-changing support for people living with low vision and blindness to confidently navigate their communities.

Alternatively, recyclers can donate to the current statewide donation partner, Jeans for Genes, to support research into treatments and cures for children’s genetic conditions.

Return and Earn has become a key fundraising channel for many charities and community groups in NSW. Over $91 million has been raised from donations and fees from hosting return points since the scheme launched in 2017.
