This Saturday, 29 November, the community will come together for Ride4Bella, our annual 12-hour Ride-a-thon event held in memory of angel Bella Tuddenham and dedicated to raising awareness and support for families affected by Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA).
Ride4Bella was created in honour of Bella, a brave little girl whose life was deeply challenged by SMA, a rare genetic condition that weakens the muscles needed for movement, breathing, and swallowing. Born without a vital gene, Bella’s strength faded quickly, and at just 20 days old, she took her final breath at 11:11am. Her courage, spirit, and the love surrounding her continue to inspire us every single day.
Through Ride4Bella, we ensure that Bella’s life has purpose. We ride so that no parent faces the heartbreak Emma and her family endured without support, information, and hope for a different outcome.
“Together with our Hot Temple community, we created Ride for Bella, a way to ‘move for those who can’t’. In 2021, we lost our fifth child, Bella, to Spinal Muscular Atrophy, the leading genetic killer of babies under two. Our event raises vital funds and research for families living with this devastating condition, and if their child survives, they will face massive lifelong challenges. Above all, Ride for Bella is about honouring Bella, creating hope, and supporting children of all abilities to live fuller, brighter lives.” said Emma Tuddenham Saturday’s 12-hour Ride-a-thon will welcome riders, families, supporters, and community members to come together in Bella’s honour, keeping her memory alive while creating hope for children everywhere living with SMA.
