ServiceStamp Launches Service History Checks in Australia, Giving Used Car Buyers Instant Access to Manufacturer Service Records by VIN
Service Stamp Ltd
- ServiceStamp, a vehicle service history verification service, has launched in Australia, allowing used car buyers and sellers to instantly access official manufacturer service records for a vehicle by entering its VIN for $24.99 per check.
- The service covers 20 brands from model year 2012 onwards, including Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, MG, Porsche, Volkswagen, Kia and Volvo, pulling data directly from manufacturer systems - the same records franchised dealerships use.
- Depending on the brand, reports can include service dates and types, odometer readings at each service, work carried out, the servicing dealer's location, and vehicle details, helping buyers identify gaps in service history or inconsistent odometer readings.
- ServiceStamp addresses a significant gap in Australia's used car market, where around 2.32 million used vehicles were sold in 2025 and buyers have had no independent way to verify servicing claims beyond paper logbooks, which can be lost, incomplete, or forged.
- The service is designed to complement an existing PPSR check rather than replace it, and is available Australia-wide at servicestamp.com.au with reports delivered within seconds of payment and no subscription required.
New $24.99 VIN check reveals the dealer service records manufacturers hold for 20 brands, including Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, MG, Volkswagen, Kia and Volvo.
ServiceStamp, the vehicle service history verification service, has launched in Australia. Australian used car buyers and sellers can now enter a VIN and instantly see the official manufacturer service records for the vehicle.
Australian buyers can already run a PPSR check to find out whether a car has money owing on it, or has been written off or stolen. Confirming that it was actually serviced is much harder. A paper logbook only shows what was stamped in it, and logbooks are easily lost, incomplete or faked.
ServiceStamp closes that gap by pulling service data directly from manufacturer (OEM) systems, the same records franchised dealerships see when a car comes in for service. Following its UK launch in January 2026 and US launch in October 2026, the Australian service covers 20 brands from model year 2012 onwards, at $24.99 per check, including Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, MG, Porsche, Volkswagen, Kia and Volvo.
A blind spot in a 2.3 million car market
Around 2.32 million used vehicles were sold in Australia in 2025, according to the Australian Automotive Dealer Association (AADA) and AutoGrab, and just over half were private sales. For most of them, the buyer has no independent way to verify the seller's claims about servicing.
Since around 2012, manufacturers have recorded dealer servicing digitally against each vehicle's VIN, from logbook services to recalls and warranty work. That data has stayed largely inside dealer networks, out of reach for private buyers, sellers and independent dealers.
"A PPSR check tells you whether a car has money owing or has been written off, but not whether anyone actually looked after it," said Simon Brown, founder of ServiceStamp. "The dealer service records already exist in the manufacturer's system. ServiceStamp lets anyone see them in seconds, before they hand over their money."
Proven in the UK
Across thousands of UK checks since launching there in January 2026, about 7 in 10 vehicles came back with manufacturer service records. BMW and MINI were the best-covered makes, with 93% of BMW's and 94% of MINI's returning dealer service history, and a typical car's record showed four dealer visits.
What a ServiceStamp report shows
Coverage depends on the brand, and the coverage tier is shown before checkout:
-
Full service records (11 brands): Audi, BMW, Cupra, Jaguar, Land Rover, Mercedes-Benz, MG, MINI, Porsche, Skoda and Volkswagen.
-
Dealer workshop remarks, including recalls and warranty work (9 brands): Alfa Romeo, Citroen, Dodge, Fiat, Kia, Peugeot, Polestar, Renault and Volvo.
Depending on the brand, reports can include:
-
Service dates and service types
-
Odometer reading in kilometres at each service, plus a dated odometer timeline
-
Work carried out and individual service actions
-
The servicing dealer and its location
-
Vehicle details, including make, model and model year
Buyers can use this to spot gaps in logbook servicing, confirm odometer readings rise consistently over time, and check that work was done inside the manufacturer's dealer network. Each report appears on screen, arrives by email and comes as a PDF to keep or share.
Reducing the risk of fake logbook stamps
A seller can advertise a car with "full service history" backed by nothing more than a stamped logbook. Those stamps may be incomplete, or forged outright.
By checking service history directly against manufacturer records, ServiceStamp gives buyers an independent way to test those claims at the source, rather than relying on paperwork or the seller's word.
Built for buyers, sellers and dealers
ServiceStamp is designed for:
-
Used car buyers, checking servicing before committing to a purchase or paying for a pre-purchase inspection
-
Private sellers, showing verified service records to support their asking price
-
Dealers and wholesale buyers, appraising trade-ins and stock without chasing service records
-
Fleet managers, auditing servicing across their vehicles
-
Vehicle owners, recovering service history when the logbook has been lost
The service is designed to complement a PPSR check, which covers money owing, write-offs and theft, not replace it.
How it works
-
Enter the vehicle's 17-character VIN, found at the base of the windscreen, on the build or compliance plate, or on the registration papers. ServiceStamp confirms the make, model year and coverage tier before payment.
-
Pay $24.99 securely, with no subscription.
-
Receive an instant digital service history report.
Coverage applies to vehicles from model year 2012 onwards and depends on where the vehicle was serviced. Records from independent workshops are not included.
