  • Founder and CEO James Freeman described the auction as a celebration of everything the teams have achieved, noting that each car represents thousands of kilometres and an incredible commitment to fundraising.
  • The auction is considered one of the most anticipated moments of the rally, offering the public the chance to purchase a genuine Shitbox Rally vehicle whilst contributing to a major national fundraising effort.

Vehicles that survived over 3,500 kilometres across Australia will be auctioned in Melbourne on Saturday July 18 to raise further funds for Cancer Research.

After completing an extraordinary journey from Port Douglas to Melbourne, Shitbox Rally vehicles will go under the hammer, with all proceeds from the auction contributing to life-saving cancer research through Cancer Council.

The cars—each worth no more than $1,500 at the start of the rally—have endured seven days of Australia’s toughest roads, including outback tracks, dust, river crossings, and mechanical failures, as part of Shitbox Rally 2026 Autumn.

Teams have the option to buy back their own vehicles or allow them to be sold, with every dollar raised at auction going directly to Cancer Council.

From faded family sedans to wildly decorated wagons and utes, each vehicle arrives in Melbourne with its own story of resilience, teamwork and determination to support Australians affected by cancer.

The auction is one of the most anticipated moments of the rally, attracting strong community interest and offering supporters the chance to purchase a genuine Shitbox Rally car while contributing to a major national fundraising effort.

“The auction is a celebration of everything the teams have achieved,” said Founder and CEO James Freeman. “Each car represents thousands of kilometres, countless breakdowns, and an incredible commitment to raising funds for Cancer Research. It’s emotional, it’s entertaining, and it continues the impact long after the rally finishes.”
