Shitbox Rally - Box Rallies
- More than 240 teams are taking part in Shitbox Rally, a seven-day, 3,700-kilometre drive from Adelaide to Darwin in cars worth no more than $1,500, with all vehicles required to be roadworthy, registered, and free from 4WD or AWD capability.
- Since launching in 2010, the event has raised more than $68 million for cancer research, making it one of Australia's largest non-government funders of cancer research; every team commits to raising a minimum of $5,000, with 100 per cent of donations going directly to Cancer Council.
- Teams will cross the finish line at the DoubleTree by Hilton Esplanade in Darwin from approx. 4:00pm on Friday 21st August, with the arrival of all cars expected to take approximately two hours.
- A post-rally car auction with no reserve on any vehicle will be held at Darwin Sailing Club on Saturday 22nd August, beginning at 10:00am and concluding at midday, with proceeds contributing further to cancer research fundraising.
- Members of the public are encouraged to attend both the finish line celebrations and the car auction to cheer on participants, many of whom are honouring loved ones affected by cancer.

Since launching in 2010, participants have raised more than $68 million for cancer research, making Box Rallies one of Australia's largest non-government funders of cancer research. Every team commits to raising a minimum of $5,000, with 100 per cent of donations going directly to Cancer Council to support life-saving cancer research. This rally alone has already raised over $2 million.
The Adelaide to Darwin rally will see participants tackle some of Australia's most remote roads, overcoming breakdowns, dust and mechanical challenges—all united by one purpose: helping create a future free from cancer.
"The finish line is one of the most emotional moments of the entire rally," said Founder and CEO James Freeman.
"Every team has a story—whether it's overcoming constant breakdowns, honouring a loved one, or achieving something they never thought possible. Watching hundreds of teams cross the finish line after a week together is a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when people unite behind a common cause."
While Darwin marks the end of the journey, it doesn't mark the end of the fundraising. Many teams continue raising money after the rally, with the event's traditional post-rally auction set to generate even more funds for life-saving cancer research.
The finish line will be a spectacular celebration of resilience, generosity and community spirit, with hundreds of creatively themed vehicles arriving carrying the dust, dents and memories of an unforgettable week on the road.
Members of the public are encouraged to attend, cheer on the teams and celebrate the incredible efforts of participants who have travelled from across Australia in support of a cause that touches almost every family.
