The hotel unveils its 2025 Christmas collaboration with French Maison Balzac, offering a season of light, and storytelling. The hotel lobby is adorned with Maison Balzac signature décor details and a twinkling Christmas tree. Together, the two French-born brands bring a refined yet modern expression of Christmas to the heart of Sydney.
Sofitel Sydney x Maison Balzac Christmas Tree: A Festive Masterpiece of Whimsy
From 4 December, the hotel’s lobby will showcase a stunning Christmas tree, adorned with Maison Balzac’s best-selling Pompette coupes—each catching the light like a glistening ornament of glass and air—and paired with Sydney’s revered florist Dr Cooper’s iconic velvet bows. Maison Balzac, renowned for their collections of jewellery for the table, objects of desire and playful homewares, brings an element of French charm and whimsy to the installation. The result is a striking fusion of sculptural modernity and nostalgic tradition, crafted to captivate guests and designed to delight at first glance, sparking the joy of Christmas.
Illuminating the Season: A Candle Ceremony to Remember
Each evening at sunset, Sofitel Sydney Wentworth will host a candle and light ceremony—a cherished French Christmas tradition embraced by Sofitel hotels around the globe—connecting Sydney to Paris, the City of Light, and bringing the magic of a Parisian festive season to the heart of the city. This tradition was also observed by Maison Balzac founder Élise Balzac’s family in the South of France. In her family home, Christmas was marked by candles lit at dusk, shadows dancing across the room, and the sharing of les treize desserts—thirteen sweet delicacies symbolising abundance, togetherness, and the generosity of French Provençal tradition.
In a nod to this festive ritual, guests are invited to Club Millésime to discover the thirteen desserts of citrus, spice and confections inspired by Élise’s childhood and South of France traditions, evoking the flavours and memories of her festive celebrations.
