STEPS Garden Centre is getting ready to host its first Harvest Day event on Saturday October 5 and bring the Sunshine Coast community together.

From 9am to 3pm, the STEPS Garden Centre, located on Ulm Street South in Caloundra, will be home to deals on plants and gardening supplies, giveaways and competitions, propagation workshops, and other seasonal activities to celebrate Spring.

April Heard, STEPS Garden Centre Manager, says the event is an exciting opportunity for locals to explore the world of gardening and have fun with their family while they support an important cause.

“We want to foster an interest in gardening and a true sense of community, so we decided to create Harvest Day to get everyone involved and support STEPS’ mission of creating brighter futures for people living with a disability and autism,” Mrs Heard said.

“Whether you’re a green thumb like me or someone who has never tried gardening, we’ve got something here for everyone. I’m super excited for the propagation workshop I’m hosting, and there will be plenty of fun for the kids.”

The much-loved, on-site Café on George will also be open for Harvest Day, giving locals the opportunity to experience the Café’s delicious coffee and house-made food.

“Café on George is typically only open on weekdays, so this will give people the chance to find their next favourite local Café,” Mrs Heard said.

“We have such a beautiful outdoor area and garden to explore here. I think our first-time visitors on Harvest Day will realise they’ve found a true hidden gem right here in Caloundra.”

All profits made at the STEPS Garden Centre and Café on George go directly to STEPS Pathways College, a space for young people living with a disability or autism, and the only college of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere.

Harvest Days at STEPS Garden Centre were created to get the locals together, fostering a sense of community and harvesting support for STEPS’ mission of creating brighter futures for people living with a disability and autism.
