STEPS Pathways College is featured in the latest episode of Channel 7’s primetime health and wellness program, House of Wellness, showcasing the stories of founder Carmel Crouch AM and Tom, one of STEPS Pathways College’s first graduates.

The segment, presented by House of Wellness co-host and STEPS Pathways College Ambassador Melissa Doyle AM, marks a milestone moment for Australia’s first and only independence education college for young people with a disability and autism.

Carmel Crouch AM, whose four decades of disability advocacy led to the creation of STEPS Pathways College, said she is proud to offer other parents an opportunity to give their children the future they deserve.

“One in five Australians live with a disability, and they are more than twice as likely to be unemployed. One in six adults with a disability live in poverty. STEPS Pathways College is here to rewrite these statistics,” Ms Crouch said.

“Every person, no matter their ability, has the right to dream, to achieve, and to live a life full of meaning and happiness, and that is exactly why we made STEPS Pathways College a reality.”

The House of Wellness segment follows graduate Tom, who is living independently in Melbourne, alongside Carmel Crouch AM’s own journey from dedicated mother to thought leader in the disability sector.

“When you watch the story of Tom on House of Wellness, you’re seeing 40 years of championing young people with a disability and autism in action,” Ms Crouch said.

“When you hear Tom's story and wonder if this could be your child's future too, the answer is yes,” she said.

The STEPS Pathways College episode of House of Wellness aired Tuesday 28 April 2026 on Channel 7, with the episode now available to stream on 7plus. To find information about STEPS Pathways College, apply, donate, or partner with us, visit our dedicated House of Wellness webpage.
