Students from across NSW converge on Sydney Olympic Park for Boccia State Championships

More than 3,600 students and 1,200 staff from over 700 schools across NSW will compete in this week's Boccia State Championships, with the top primary and secondary teams battling for state glory at the Quay Centre, Sydney Olympic Park.

Boccia is a precision ball sport designed for athletes with disabilities, requiring accuracy, tactics and control. The NSW school championships are the culmination of a season of regional competition across 28 venues statewide, bringing together students from mainstream, support and SSP settings in a genuinely statewide, all-abilities competition pathway.

Competing schools have progressed through regional events held across 28 venues statewide, with teams travelling from as far afield as Grafton, Narooma, Albury and Broken Hill.

The competition has previously unearthed elite talent, including Dan Michel and Jamison Leeson, the current world Pairs champions and Paralympic silver medallists.

Primary Finals – Tuesday 28 July
Top 28 primary schools compete for the state title, including 2025 winners Kellyville Ridge Public School and 2024 winners Mount Terry Public School.
10.00 am – 12.40 pm: Preliminary rounds
1.15 pm: Semi-finals and placing playoffs
1.40 pm: Grand Final (1st/2nd) and Minor Final (3rd/4th)
Presentations follow the conclusion of the Grand Final. 

Secondary Finals – Wednesday 29 July
Top 24 secondary schools compete, including 2023 winners Killara High School and 2022 winners St Clair High School.
10.00 am – 12.45 pm: Preliminary rounds
1.00 pm: Semi-finals and placing playoffs
1.30 pm: Grand Final (1st/2nd) and Minor Final (3rd/4th)
Presentations follow the conclusion of the Grand Final.
