Students skip at school to raise more than their heart rates

Students from OneSchool Global (OSG) campuses across Australia have proven themselves to be Heart Heroes, jumping rope for hundreds of hours to raise almost $96,000 for life-saving heart research.

Jump Rope for Heart is an initiative that takes place throughout the school year, with schools running 5-to-8-week programs to raise donations for the Heart Foundation, while also encouraging kids to get active and move their bodies.

“OneSchool Global students are always full of energy and enthusiasm when it comes to both charity and sports, and I am delighted to see that their dedication has put us on top of the Jump Rope for Heart leaderboard,” said Paul Maher, OSG Australian Director of Education.

“Of course, any amount raised for the Heart Foundation is so important, as it all goes towards supporting vital work to combat heart disease by funding research into prevention and care.”

OSG’s Western Australia campuses are currently topping the fundraising leaderboard after students skipped for 140 hours to raise $46,682.

Another two OSG campuses are in the top 20, with OSG Sydney skipping 101 hours to raise $20,582 and OSG Illawarra putting in 90 hours to raise $16,537.

“The huge efforts of students at OSG Perth, Sydney and Illawarra have placed them in the top 20 Australian schools – they are truly deserving of the title ‘Heart Heroes’,” said Mr Maher.

“I also want to congratulate students at our campuses in Tasmania, Wagga Wagga, and Albury as they have helped raise thousands of dollars for the Heart Foundation.”
