Cancer Council ACT’s The Longest Day is back for 2025 and calling all golfing legends to take on the ultimate test of skill and stamina - 72 holes in a single day - to raise vital funds for local life-saving cancer research, support services and prevention programs right here in the ACT.

This year, The Longest Day will officially take place on Monday10 November 2025, but participants can complete their challenge at their local golf club anytime throughout November and December.

Cancer Council ACT CEO, Verity Hawkins said “With around 1 in 2 Australians diagnosed with cancer by the age of 85, we all have a role to play in reducing its impact. By taking on The Longest Day, participants are helping Cancer Council ACT fund world-class cancer research that saves lives, provide information and support services to locals affected by cancer when they need it most, and empower our community to reduce their risk of cancer through delivery of prevention programs".

“While playing golf is a good way to keep active, the fundraiser is also an opportunity to remind golfers to protect themselves on the course, as they are almost 2.5 times more likely to develop skin cancer than the general population due to their extended periods of time in the sun. Slip on sun protective clothing, slop on SPF50 or higher sunscreen, slap on a broad-brim hat, seek shade, and slide on wraparound sunglasses” Verity Hawkins added.

Participants can choose their challenge:

  • The Longest Day – 72 holes

  • The Longer Day – 54 holes

  • The Long Day – 36 holes

Last year, more than 5,000 golfers raised over $2.9 million nationally. In 2025, Cancer Council hopes to raise $3 million to support the thousands of Australians affected by cancer each year.
