Colour blocking has been copied by Australian florists for a decade. This is the studio that published the guide to it in 2016, teaching it at the bench.

Four nights, two cities: Melbourne on 6 August and 3 September, Sydney on 20 August and 17 September. Sessions are timed to Flower Club collection nights, so members pick up their flowers and stay for the evening.

For ten years Australian florists have been copying the colour-blocked bouquet. From 6 August, you can learn it at the bench where it started, with a glass of wine in your other hand.

Fig & Bloom, Australia's original premium flower delivery service, has opened bookings for The Flower Club Workshop: a hands-on evening class at its Melbourne and Sydney studios, running one Thursday a month in each city from August. Seats are $179 and include market-fresh blooms, tools, an apron, cheese, wine and nibbles. The arrangement goes home with the person who made it.

"We have spent a decade being imitated, which we take as a compliment," said Kellie Brown, founder and creative director of Fig & Bloom. "This is the first time most people will see how the look is actually built. It is less mysterious and more fun than it looks, and by the end of the night you are holding proof."

The workshops are led by Fig & Bloom's own florists and walk guests through the architectural, colour-blocked style the studio introduced to Australian flower delivery in its first year and published a guide to in 2016.

Each session is deliberately timed to Flower Club subscription collection dates, so members can pick up their delivery at the studio and stay for the evening. Friends can book adjacent seats. Customers who have ordered in the previous 30 days can redeem a coupon for a free ticket.
