Thousands register to participate in the Dr Lanzer Class Action

Patients who underwent cosmetic surgery at the Lanzer Clinics have until 4.00pm Friday 10 April to register or opt out of a class action set for trial in the Supreme Court of Victoria in September.
The class action alleges that Dr Daniel Lanzer and his colleagues Dr Daniel Aronov, Dr Ryan Wells, Dr Alieza Fallahi, Dr George Wong, and Dr Daniel Darbyshire engaged in misleading and negligent practices while performing cosmetic surgeries, with many former patients left with injuries and ongoing pain. Psychologist Candice Wainstein, who is the wife of Dr Aronov, is also a defendant.
Maddens Lawyers principal Kathryn Emeny, who is leading the class action, said the Lanzer Clinics operated across Australia including in Malvern, Sydney, Surrey Hills, Sailsbury, Broadbeach, Perth and Subiaco.
“If you had cosmetic surgery at one of the Lanzer Clinics, performed by one or more of the named defendants and you’ve had a poor experience or outcome then it is likely you are eligible to make a claim for compensation as part of the class action,” she said.
This could include procedures such as liposuction, gynaecomastia, otoplasty, tummy tucks, facelifts, and breast augmentation.
Ms Emeny said the response to the class action had been staggering with approximately 2,500 prior patients of the Lanzer Clinics already having registered.
“It is alarming that so many people report having had such a negative experience at the Lanzer Clinics. We’re receiving registrations from a broad range of people including both males and females. Some report that the surgery simply did not achieve the desired outcome whilst others have extensive injuries such as nerve damage, ongoing pain, scarring or require corrective surgery,” she said.
The class action will seek a full refund of the price paid for surgery, compensation for pain, suffering, distress, and disappointment, and reimbursement for aftercare expenses, corrective surgery and loss of income.
“It’s important to register by no later than 10 April if you wish to be able to claim money from any settlement that may be reached between the parties before the trial begins. Its critical people register so we know about their circumstances and can claim compensation for them. The time to act is now,” said Ms Emeny.
