Twelve CEOs and no slide decks, investors go behind the scenes at Jane Morgan Management lunch
JMM
CEOs and MDs went off-script in candid fireside chats at the Museum of Contemporary Art. Investors from Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane gathered at Sydney’s Museum of Contemporary Art today for the Jane Morgan Management Investor Lunch, where twelve company leaders took to the stage for candid, one-on-one fireside chats.
Chaired by Freddie Cator, Vice President of Corporate Finance at investment and advisory firm Jarden, the format traded slide decks for conversation. Investors heard first-hand from CEOs and MDs about their operations and plans in a more intimate setting.
The line-up spanned gold, copper, rare earths, uranium, lithium, biotech and advanced manufacturing.
William Witham, MD & CEO, Pinnacle Minerals
Pinnacle is acquiring APT Tungsten which holds five early stage tungsten projects in Utah, with the announcement literally days old.
Frank Roberts, MD & CEO, 6K Additive
6K is riding a wave of demand for US-made 3D printing powders. They announced a US$8.1m - US$10.8m long term supply agreement with US based advanced manufacturer ADDMAN for Nickel 718 powder over 30 months. The agreement included a buy-back program to allow for reprocessing powders and contribute to a circular ecosystem.
Alex Passmore, CEO, New Murchison Gold
Passmore has plenty to smile about. New Murchison holds A$220.4 million in cash as at the end of September, with no debt. The company now has a second open pit in production and an exploration strategy targeting additional gold resources and potential stand alone discoveries across the Garden Gully tenement package.
Nathan Smith, CEO, Miro Sciences (formerly NeuroScientific Biopharmaceuticals)
Not only did Smith reveal the new company name Miro to the audience, he spoke to the fact they have just secured the US FDA’s backing for their planned Phase 2 trial of StemSmart cell therapy in treatment-resistant Crohn’s disease.
Andrew Sparke, Executive Chairman, QMines
Sparke is a man on a mission to put Mt Chalmers and QMines on the map. Being debt-free and backed by a $15 million investment from QIC, they are running their biggest-ever drilling campaign at Mt Chalmers near Rockhampton. As they advance rapidly towards construction, Sparke is getting closer to his aim to become Queensland’s next copper-gold producer.
Natalia Brunacci, Chief Geologist, Oceana Metals
The energy Brunacci brought to the stage was undeniable. Brunacci is in the thick of it at Serra Negra in Brazil with Oceana Metals and her excitement about what they had achieved in such a small time was clear. Oceana has four rigs turning on a rare earths project that has already delivered standout hits such as 50m at 4% TREO.
Tony Greenaway, MD, Core Energy Minerals
Greenaway has taken Core Energy into Namibia’s uranium heartland through the Nova joint venture with Deep Yellow. The company has raised $3 million to drill the Barking Gecko prospect. With confidence and experience in the region, Greenaway is excited about the next phase of exploration.
Greg Starr, MD, Moonlight Resources
Less than a year after its $10 million IPO, Starr has put into action a clear plan to keep finding gold and build out their maiden resource. Moonlight currently has 13,000m DRC drilling program underway across their three Clermont prospects and in October announced a conceptual exploration target of 443,000 - 662,000oz of contained gold.
Alistair Stephens, CEO, Power Minerals
The rare earths veteran has wasted no time since joining in March. Power has defined a high-grade Exploration Target at Morro do Ferro in Brazil, and the Minas Gerais government has agreed to fast-track its licensing.
Grant Caffery, CEO, Iondrive
The former BHP innovation chief joined Iondrive in August, just as it launched a North American campaign to recover rare earths from old magnets using its IONSolv technology. One of his immediate targets is a proposed first commercial processing facility in Oklahoma in the US.
Martin Holland, Executive Chairman, Cobre
Holland is taking Cobre from strength to strength. In October Cobre increased their ownership of Sierra Atacama to 62.86% and outlined a clear pathway to 100% ownership by December 2027. The Sierra Atacama copper mine in Chile is now cash-flow positive, and with an A$90 million raise behind them, plans to grow production are underway.
Peter Wright, MD, Greenwing Resources
Wright has been working all the hours on advancing Greenwing's San Jorge Lithium project through a strategic partner process. There are plans for further drilling to define the resource and realise the full value of its 100% owned lithium brine project in Argentina. Closer to home, its Que River mining lease in Tasmania has been approved through to 2035, and the company is weighing both a mining restart and a future data centre on the site.
With candid conversations and a genuine peek behind the scenes, investor feedback rated the event one of the best yet.
