Details:

 

More than 800 people marched through the streets of Sydney today demanding the Albanese government do more to protect nature.

 

Australia is currently a world-leader when it comes to mammal extinctions and is a global deforestation hotspot.

 

New research out today reveals 10 species that are among the most imperilled in the country including Tasmania’s Maugean skate, the Swift parrot and the Regent honeyeater. 

 

Australia's weak nature laws are partly to blame for the demise of our iconic species that are under increasing threat from habitat destruction, invasive species and climate change. 

 

The Albanese government is under heavy criticism from environment groups over its handling of the national nature law reform in parliament.

 

Protestors have made a direct plea to the Prime Minister to do the right thing by nature and work with the Senate crossbench to strengthen the laws. 

 

The March for Nature was organised by the Australian Conservation Foundation and joined by several environmental charities.
