Welcome to Willoughby - Celebrating Welcoming Week 2025

Willoughby City Council is proud to celebrate Welcoming Week 2025 from 12 to 21 September – an annual campaign that promotes the value of welcoming and inclusive communities across Australia.

As part of this year’s celebrations, Council will host a special Welcome to Willoughby event on Thursday 18 September in Chatswood Mall Market. The free community event will run from 10:30 am to 4:00 pm and is open to everyone.

The event will introduce new residents, particularly those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, to the wide range of services and programs available in our city.

Visitors can:

• Learn about local services and community programs
• Connect directly with Council representatives and service providers
• Discover opportunities to get involved in community life
• Enjoy fun activities, information displays and live entertainment

Mayor Tanya Taylor said the event reflects Council’s ongoing commitment to ensuring Willoughby remains a welcoming and vibrant community.

“Willoughby’s multicultural community continues to grow, and we are committed to keeping it a welcoming, inclusive and vibrant city for everyone. Welcome to Willoughby aims to make new residents feel at home and to ensure our services meet the community’s diverse needs well into the future.”

Willoughby City Council has a long history of supporting diverse communities. In 2023, the MOSAIC Centre, Council’s multicultural hub, celebrated its 30^th anniversary. The centre continues to provide counselling, information and referral services. It also offers English classes, leisure activities, technology programs, social groups and school holiday programs.

Coordinated by Willoughby City Council as part of Welcoming Week 2025, the Welcome to Willoughby event is held in partnership with Services Australia, TAFE NSW and Sydney Multicultural Services.
