Work from Home legislation delay welcomed by Victorian Chamber

The Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry welcomes Premier Carroll’s decision to delay debate on the Work From Home Bill. 

The business community has been clear that the Bill is unnecessary and sends the wrong signal to businesses and investors at a time where economic conditions are weak and Victoria’s unemployment is the highest in the nation.  

We welcome the opportunity to work with Premier Carroll and his government to address widespread business concerns that the current legislation will create a costly, complex, and unworkable system. 

A delay alone is not enough; the Government must now work with business to restore confidence in the Victorian economy and ensure any legislation advanced by Government aligns with this critical need. This matters for all Victorians as a strong economy provides the investment, business and jobs that households rely upon.
